Secondary awareness campaign
#Every 3Days
Every 3 days an athlete dies from Sudden Cardiac Arrest. Awareness starts the conversation that can save a life.
Why a Physical May Not Be Enough
Many heart conditions that can lead to Sudden Cardiac Arrest are not detected during a standard sports physical. Additional cardiac screening — such as an electrocardiogram (ECG/EKG) — may identify certain conditions, but no screening can detect every heart problem.
Warning Signs to Take Seriously
- Fainting or seizure during or right after exercise
- Chest pain or discomfort with exertion
- Unexplained shortness of breath
- Racing or irregular heartbeat
- Unusual fatigue compared to teammates
- Family history of sudden or unexplained death before age 50

MCORE Foundation — Columbus, Ohio
MCORE provides community heart-screening events using electrocardiograms (ECGs/EKGs). Screening results are securely uploaded for physician review, helping families access additional evaluation when appropriate.
Athletes Have Heart is an awareness and education organization. We are not a medical provider. Our goal is to connect athletes and families with the organizations and professionals already doing this important work.
